What I needed was a nice little getaway. A place filled with sand, sun, saltwater, and fun. What I got is a whole different story. Here I am, packed into a Volkswagen van on tour with the Original Bunker Punks.
It’s pretty tight and smelly in here. But damn… I’m having the time of my life. We’ve decided to play a little interview game, to pass the time and all.
What is your most prized possession?
My most prized possession is something I’ve had with me since I left home at 18.
I inherited this vanity from my grandmother. As a child, I idolized this piece of furniture. It made my grandmother pretty. I’ve sat in front of those three mirrors for the last fifteen years. I’ve cried, I have laughed, I’ve smoked too many cigarettes and I’ve drank too many vodka drinks sitting at this vanity. I wake up every morning and I see these words taped onto a mirror.
I’m invincible sitting at this vanity. I am beautiful, with or without makeup.
How do you unwind after a long day?
Rum. Kisses. Cuddles. More Rum. More Kisses. And I sing and dance A LOT. Also, I like to hear one story. I ask my husband the same question almost every few days. He has learned to not fight it. I ask him to tell me the story about how we met. I like that story. I’m the storyteller in our household, but every so often I like to hear the story; our story.
What is one song that has followed you throughout your whole life?
My Mommy played a lot of Johnny Cash growing up. His voice sounds like home to me.
If you could give one piece of advice to new bloggers in your field, what would it be?
Find your voice. Stick to it. And just write. Write your guts out.
One quote from you.
“Live a life worth writing about.”
